New Pillows and Some Exciting News!

No I didn't have the baby, Davy is still cooking and I'm still waddling around BUT almost as exciting, my house is going to be featured on Design Mom this Fall for their "Living with Kids" series!!! And I am soooo ecstatic/honored/humbled!!!! However it's got me wanting to tackle 1 million projects at the house and we just don't have the time or the budget right now.  So I'm trying to make peace with what we've already got going on and do a few little things I've been putting off that wont break the bank...like pillows!
I have been totally obsessed with two fabrics for the last two years or so and have wanted to incorporate them into my home desperately.  G P & J Baker Nympheus and Peter Dunham's Fig Leaf... They both have hold of my heart and wont let go, and I feel like if you keep on loving something for such a long time, you should just do the honest thing, make it official and take them home with you, where you can live and love them everyday!

However both are pretty expensive, and it's just hasn't been a priority.  But now that Design Mom is a calling, I think it's time to take the plunge...here are the swatches...both come in a variety of colorways but I think these are the two I am going to go with...

G P & J BAKER NYMPHEUS

The waterlilies and cranes just make me happy and look so cozy and Southern to me...

PETER DUNHAM'S FIG LEAF

The colors of those leaves are just to die for.  Plus I have an obsession with Fiddle leaf fig trees anyway so why not put them on a pillow, or drapes, or cover an entire wall?!

Here are some of my favorite uses of these two beauties in no particular order...

Gosh I love that room.

 Love this colorway too!!!

 Cute pup!

love love love

Love EVERYTHING in this room!

PD's Fig Leaf looks so great with blue & white (another obsession of mine)

I want to replicate this room exactly in my dream house...so casual but elegant!

Gosh that just made me want them even more...Do you love them as much as I do?
What fabric has you all hot and bothered?

P.S. No idea why the font got all funky at the top with the black highlight?
Did it show up strange on your screen?

P+P's Inspired Interiors: Lucite Lover

Acrylic...Plexiglass...Plastic?  So many "names" for one of my favorite things.  I like to refer to the beautiful substance as Lucite, but you can call it whatever you'd like!  Lucite is a high grade form of acrylic plastic and I just love to see it in interiors.  I got my first Lucite piece, a Louis Ghost chair, a few years ago and I love him now more than ever.  David thinks he's weird and really "modern", which might be why I like him so much!  I think it's exciting to mix different styles throughout a house, the unexpected beauty brings me so much joy!  The little Ghost chair moves around quite a bit throughout our home (usually he is my office chair) but right now I have him hanging out in my living room.

Isn't he cute??  He came from Amazon  which has the best prices BY FAR!!!  It's not unusual for Ghost chairs to go for $500 and up!  In fact I haven't seen prices that low ever!
I paid $300 for my man so now I am contemplating getting a whole set for my dining room at those prices!!!
Good thing my birthday and Christmas are right around the corner!
Or maybe a "push" present?! David are you reading this? :)

Enough about my little guy, here are some of my favorite lucite looks from around the web.

Mom just bought a console table from CB2 that looks exactly like this one.
She is going to use it as a vanity in the Grandkids' bunk bed room at her house!
Can't wait to show you pics once she gets it all styled and pretty!

Love this look so much!!! Lucite + Wood = PERFECTION

One thing that I'm most drawn to when using lucite in an interior is including natural elements in the same vignette.  Notice how all these pics either have fresh flowers, plants, or even animals of some sort (cowhide rug, deer mount, coral lamp etc).
Pairing the manufactured look of plastic with mother nature turns out to be a real winner in my book!

What do you think?

P+P's Favorite Finds: Fabrics

Right now I am working on a few projects that have me contemplating some really gorgeous fabric.  Whether you are starting from scratch and designing an entire room around a certain colorway, OR you're working a fun print into an existing scheme, the right fabric can really make such a positive difference!

Here are a few of my current favorite fabrics...let me know which one you like best in the comments section!

Inspired Interiors: Blue + White

Whenever I go to an antique store or flea market, I am always on the lookout for unique pieces of Blue and White china.  I really can't get enough, I just love it so!  However after including it in almost every room of my house, I have realized that I am bordering on too much of a good thing!  Truly it isn't just the china that I love, but the clean, crisp, southern and traditional feel of the lovely cobalt and bright white mixed together.  Therefore I put together this design board of some beautiful ways to incorporate the feel of Blue and White china in your home, without stocking up on every plate, vase or ginger jar that comes your way!

And just to add to my Blue + White obsession, this past spring my mom found all these gorgeous pieces of china washed up on the beach in Hawaii!!!  These pieces (along with all the sea-glass) have been showing up in the surf on the black sand beaches in Hilo ever since the 1946 tsunami.

Isn't that cool?

Mae Mae's Nursery: Befores and Inspiration

Today I want to share with you the Before pictures and the Inspiration behind Mae Mae's nursery!  Her nursery was actually featured on the House Happy blog a few months ago and so I am so excited to share it here now too!  (If you don't follow House Happy yet, DO IT!  Laurie is one of my best friends and she is super talented and does amazing posts, you'll love her!)

We moved in almost a year ago, when Mae Mae was just 8 weeks old.  Our house was built in 1914 and we were only the 3rd owners.  So we felt a lot of pressure to stay as true to the original design as possible.  The two families that lived in the house before us obviously loved it and we immediately fell in love too.  Having said that, we had some crazy wallpaper and carpet situations going on throughout the house, so we did make some major changes to suit our family's style.  One of the biggest changes was in Mae Mae's room!  Here are the before pictures...

MAE MAE'S NURSERY: BEFORE

The good news was there were beautiful hardwood floors underneath the carpet and the room is huge.  Mae Mae could literally host every baby friend she's ever met over for a play date in there.  I can't wait to show you what we did but for now I'll leave you with my inspiration for the room.

Thanks Laurie for the image!!!  You saved me some major Photoshop time...

Get ready for some AFTER pics tomorrow!
And Baby Boy's nursery next week!
