Today I am excited to share with you a fun E-Design project I have been working on with 20-something, Meg, who just moved to the Big Apple and got her first real J-O-B! You go Meg!!!
She moved into her apartment this summer and asked me to help her with her 8x9 foot bedroom. She has been beyond great to work with and had a great idea of what she wanted/understanding of her own personal style, so the project was easy breezy and I can't wait to see how it turns out. Her job starts on September 9th, so she is hoping to have the room installed by then! Here are the BEFORES and the DESIGN BOARD to give you an idea of how the project will turn out!
After filling out the design questionnaire and sending me pics and measurements of the room, we were able to get started.
MEG'S BEDROOM: BEFORE
There are 2 windows (one with a AC unit), a closet (without a door), and a furnace...so furniture placement was a little tricky.
But wall colors were nice and neutral, and since she's renting, we decided against paint.
The poor girl's closet rail broke the second she tried to hang her clothes... #thankGodforlandlords
Next Meg picked out this fabric!
It's from the Premier Prints "Dandelion" collection in True Turquoise
She already had the bed, the white bedding from Pottery Barn, a great print she picked up from her travels in Italy and a few fun accessories that we incorporated into the room.
After pinning inspirational images and furniture ideas
and trading a few more emails, we came up with this...
MEG'S BEDROOM: DESIGN BOARD
Meg picked out that cute chest from Overstock.com and her mom found the rug on Joss & Main. These ladies have great style and made my job super easy!!! We decided since there wasn't much space to work with, all furniture would have to do double duty. Bedside table would also serve as a vanity. And shelves would be a must! Look at these cute floating shelves we decided on from Urban Outfitters. Aren't they cool?
Next I sent them pictures with a how to on furniture layout, and a "To Do" list with sources, links and ideas. Meg's mom is traveling to NYC very soon to help her install and execute!
I can't wait to see how it all turns out!!!
Thanks Meg and Nancy, y'all have been a blast to work with!!!
XO
